Since 2005, designs for Liz Williamson : Woven in Asia have been woven by expert weavers in the Fulia region of West Bengal. Through this engagement I’ve meet other artisan groups. The Kantha scarves were hand stitched in the traditional Kantha embroidery running stitch techniques by the Threads NGO group in the Burdawan area of West Bengal. The embroidered scarves were hand embroidered in traditional ari embroidery techniques by the Zardozi Original group in the Howrah district of West Bengal. While the embroidery designs are classic Indian in motif, the colour palette and sizing are mine.
