Nine UTS fashion and textile students embarked on a journey to India for a celebration of Australian and Indian collaborative design. The students worked closely with Happy Hands Foundation in Delhi to create micro partnerships between Indian artisans and Australian designers. The tour was supported by Build UTS and was coordinated by Designer Julie Lantry in collaboration with the UTS Fashion and Textiles program. In a three week intensive workshop, each student worked collaboratively with their artisan learning about their culture, about them and about their craft. The result is a contemporary fusion of traditional techniques including Block Prints, Tie Dye and Embroidery.
